Not only was it a cupcake event, it was for a good cause! Win-win situation! I baked some chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream for the amateur event. I couldn't believe the caliber of cupcakes the other amateur bakers brought. Now that I know what to expect, next year, it is ON! I'll be entering the competition, and blowing it away! (hey, you need to have confidence)
And as for the professional bakers there, all I can say is WOW! How often do you get great bakeries form all over southern California in one room? Every cupcake that I tasted was delicious. They even had a chicken and waffle cupcake. Yes, there was chicken in the cupcake. I guess bacon cupcakes aren't extreme enough anymore. Makes me wonder what the next cupcake fad will be.
So, all in all, a wonderful event, and I'm looking forward to next year's, but now I have to come up with a winning cupcake-frosting flavor combination. :)
